MOMAgeddon: Museum of Modern Art, 2026
It is 2026. Exactly a year ago, the New York City Council received word of strange happenings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Rather than remaining as static objects, the landscape and figures in the Qin Kingdom artwork were moving about - almost as if they were alive. Thanks to their prior experience at the Museum of Natural History, the City Council knew exactly what to do. They entered the artwork, becoming living figures themselves, and worked together to resolve the exhibit's issues. Since then, all was under control…until it wasn’t. The City Council recently received a report detailing an issue in the Silla Kingdom artwork at the Museum of Modern Art! Once more, the figures in the artwork were seen moving around, living their everyday lives. After a thorough investigation, it appears as though the artwork can be entered…
Delegates will simulate the New York City Council as they explore the Silla Kingdom artwork. They will experience life through the lens of figures from the time period, while working together to resolve the crises that occur. From the limited information we have received, travelers inside the artwork will be transported into the cabinet of King Munmu of Silla in 668 CE, but not much is known beyond that…
While the committee has been informed of only one artwork’s strange activities, it’s almost guaranteed that others are impacted as well. This committee will require the utmost creativity and flexibility as the situation in the museum evolves. Only one thing in this museum is certain: actions have consequences…
This is an advanced, fast-paced committee that will involve three exhibits that feature different time periods over the course of the weekend. We highly recommend that delegates have experience competing on crisis-style committees on the collegiate circuit before joining this committee.
Wilson Mach
Chair
Wilson is a third-year majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics. Coming from the great city of New York, he will not hesitate to remind everyone that Taylor Swift wrote not one, but more than 12 songs about it. He is involved in UChicago's travel team and is the USG for Crisis at MUNUC, UChicago’s high school MUN conference. Within CHOMUN, Wilson served as a Crisis Director for Mischief and Met-dling: Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2025 at CHOMUN XXVIII and an AC for Nothing Natural About This: A Night at the American Museum of Natural History at CHOMUN XXVII.
Outside of MUN, he enjoys wandering Chicago to satisfy his craving for good food and regularly gets frustrated figuring out why the code he spent 10 hours on doesn’t work.
Wilson is extremely excited to chair this committee and to help delegates get their mischief managed. If you have any questions or want to share any obscure historical facts, feel free to reach out at wmach@uchicago.edu.
Benjamin Tytell
Crisis Director
Ben is a third year student at the University of Chicago majoring in Political Science. He has been taking part in Model UN ever since he was in middle school, but this is his first time running his own committee with ChoMUN! Ben has been involved in every Night at the Museum committee since the concept’s inception two years ago, at ChoMUN XXVII. For that committee, he served as an AC; the next year, he served as EAC for ChoMUN XXVIII’s Night at the Museum, and this year he is excited to complete the trifecta as a committee executive!
When not running zany three-part committees, you can find him scrambling around to prepare for UChicago’s high school Model UN conference, MUNUC, where he serves as the USG of Hybrids. In his free time, Ben enjoys slowly trying (and failing) to distance himself from the Theater Kid Allegations, grinding out his homework while listening to Pokémon and Mario Kart music, aimlessly staring at Google Earth and circumventing Chicago style as much as his grades will allow.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss whatever random part of the globe strikes your fancy, you are always welcome to reach out to me at bentytell@uchicago.edu.
Elizabeth Zeilman
Crisis DIrector
Elizabeth is a second-year student studying political science at the University of Chicago, but don’t let that fool you: she is a proud St. Louis sports fan, and also just in general, and you will never find her supporting a Chicago-based team (unless it’s the school, of course). She has become very involved with Model UN in college and takes part in the UChicago travel team. Along with competing, Elizabeth was previously an AC for Yongle’s Bongle at ChoMUN XXVIII and for WINDIES at MUNUC, UChicago’s high school conference.
Outside of Model UN, Elizabeth enjoys partaking in the wondrous world of TV shows, movies, music, and anything else the culture has deemed important. While currently still reeling from the dramatic ending of Severance season 2 (If you know, you know) she’s searching for her next great watch and listening to Queen Bey.
Elizabeth is incredibly excited to be a Crisis Director for this committee this year, and if you have any questions, or have any show, movie, or otherwise recommendations, please don’t hesitate to reach out at emzeilman@uchicago.edu.
