AD-HOC General assembly

The Ad-Hoc General Assembly is intended to give GA delegates a unique and exciting experience. Created by and for delegates who love General Assembly committees, ChoMUN’s Ad-Hoc GA is specifically designed to challenge delegates in the core skills of General Assembly competition. Rather than simply imposing crisis elements, distinctive ChoMUN twists to the style of committee will give delegates the chance to showcase their experience at the last conference of the year. As a flagship committee of ChoMUN XXX, the Ad-Hoc GA promises the most innovative GA experience on the collegiate competitive circuit and one that will challenge your preconceptions of Model UN.

The committee topic will remain a secret until shortly before the conference, at which point the background guide will be released and delegates will have the opportunity to engage in committee-specific preparation. When preparing for this committee, the executives encourage delegates to focus on tangible skills, including but not limited to: bloc-building, speeches, mergers, and on-your-feet thinking.

This is an advanced committee.

We highly recommend that delegates have experience competing on General Assembly committees on the collegiate circuit before competing on a ChoMUN Ad Hoc.

This is a single-delegate committee. Position papers are not required.

Jay love

chair

Jay is a fourth-year majoring in Law, Letters, and Society and Economics. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, he is a dedicated y’all evangelist and refuses to MUN without cowboy boots. Additionally, he serves as the Director of Team. Last year, Jay chaired the Gadhoc at ChoMUN XXIX.

In the brief periods of time where MUN doesn’t occupy a comprehensive segment of his brain, Jay competes with UChicago Undergraduate Moot Court, peruses the New York Times, and shakes his fist at the latest drivel originating from the Supreme Court. He is also an unapologetic fan of the two-time, undisputed World Series Champion Houston Astros. Jay is incredibly excited to serve as a Chair this year, and can’t wait for ChoMUN XXX.

If you have any questions unrelated to trashcan-related rules violations, Jay’s email is jrlove@uchicago.edu.

india cairncross

chair

India is a second-year from Washington, D.C., majoring in Political Science and East Asian Languages & Culture. She recently discovered the joys of collegiate Model UN serving as a ChoMUN AC, and is looking forward to another fantastic year.

Outside of MUN, India rows for the UChicago crew team (starboard, thanks for asking) and sings with an a capella group (alto, if you’re wondering). When she’s not doing that, you can find her playing the New York Times Spelling Bee or keeping up with Minnesota sports team scores.

India is very excited to serve as an exec for ChoMUN XXX, and can’t wait to see everyone there! You can feel free to reach out to her at icairncross@uchicago.edu.
