united nations security council
To engage delegates in an exciting and unique way, ChoMUN XXII has made the decision to run its first United Nations Security Council in a decade. The Security Council (UNSC) is designed to provide a dynamic experience for delegates who wish to be tested in a wide array of skills.
The committee itself will be largely crisis but with traditional-side elements and will be double delegation. The topics for ChoMUN’s UNSC will be Peace Consolidation in West Africa and Instability in Venezuela.
As such, this hybrid committee will touch issues across the globe and will surely cultivate high-caliber debate with creative crisis strategy.
The committee executives are thrilled to run ChoMUN’s first UNSC in recent memory and urge you to join them for an incredible experience.
Alessandro Giovanni Clark-Ansani (Ale for short) is a senior at UChicago majoring in Public Policy with a specialization in Criminal Justice Reform.
In addition to ChoMUN, Ale staffs UChicago's high school conference, MUNUC, and competes on the MUN team.
Outside of MUN, he serves as the President of his a cappella group, Run for Cover (check them out on Spotify and iTunes!). In his remaining free time he loves to cook and go salsa dancing.
Eruj Haider is a junior at UChicago majoring in Economics with a minor in History. Originally from Orlando, Florida, Eruj spent several years going to school in Dubai before deciding she was tired of sunny, hot weather and moved to Chicago.
She’s been involved with ChoMUN since she was a freshman and also competes on UChicago’s travelling team. Besides MUN, Eruj works for the admissions office and is a mentor for Moneythink.
In her free time she loves to find great food and music in the city by spending plenty of time on Yelp and in line for concerts. She is very excited to be a Crisis Director for ChoMUN’s first UNSC (in a while)!
RJ is a senior at UChicago studying Political Science. He’s actually from a small town in northern Illinois but if you ask him, he’ll just say Chicago.
RJ is excited to serve as a Crisis Director for ChoMUN’s UNSC— a committee that he’s wanted to run for a long time. RJ’s also realizing that he probably does too much MUN: he is the President of UChicago’s travelling team and this is his fourth (and last!) ChoMUN. In his glorious days of festive youth, RJ enjoyed creating a reputation for himself as UChicago’s “Team Frat Star”. He’s been forced to grow up since then, but maybe the nostalgia of senior year will cause him to bring it all back?
Outside of MUN, RJ loves politics, travel, and music. After graduation, he hopes to tour the world with Ale as a professional salsa dancing duo.
