You know who we are, but not what we do
"Money to get the power. Power to keep the money." - Niccolo Machiavelli
Has Halliburton, a multi-billion dollar multinational energy corporation, ever hired mercenaries
using money from an illegally obtained U.S. Government Contract?: Yes.
How much money has Halliburton paid in order to settle accusations that include, but are by no
means limited to, destruction of evidence, bribery of foreign officials, environmental destruction,
mass poisoning, and 32 counts of Federal Contractor Misconduct?: Over $2 Billion dollars.
How much worse could things get?
The year is 2001. We've just successfully bought the second highest office in this country.
Under the guise of a $36 million dollar "severance package", we've ensured that the United
States Government is on our payroll through the former CEO of Halliburton, Dick Cheney.
Lead Halliburton through the next decade of its existence - and in the process, lie, cheat, and
steal to make your way to the top. Work with each other, or against each other, in order to make
Halliburton, and yourself, a global leader in the 21st century.
Patrick C. Monaghan (the C stands for Caroline, but don't ask about it, it's a sensitive subject) is a third year in the college double majoring in Computer Science and Math. Patrick was an Assistant Chair at ChoMUN on the Mousavi 2009 committee, and competes on the traveling team.
He loves curling up with a good book by the fireplace and taking long walks on the beach. Outside of MUN when his inhibitions are lowered, he also competes for UChicago's Debate team, although he's getting better, and relapsing much less than he used to.
He's ecstatic to be Chairing Halliburton's Board of Directors, and you should feel free to contact him with any questions about committee at email@example.com. He can't wait to see you all in the spring!
Alex Dean is a second year in the College from Los Angeles, CA majoring in computer science and economics. This is Alex’s second year at ChoMUN – last year he staffed the presidential campaign of Mir-Hossein Mousavi – and he also competes with the travel team.
Because he can’t seem to get enough of dressing up in suits and arguing with people, Alex also competes on UChicago’s Mock Trial team. Beyond school, he loves shopping for quality neckties, watching (and occasionally performing) improv comedy, and trying his best to convince anyone in his vicinity that he definitely doesn’t regret dying all of his hair bright blue.
Feel free to contact him with any questions about committee at firstname.lastname@example.org
